USPENDED
CEILINGS
The
purpose of the suspended ceilings, independently
of its speed of fitting and its job of hiding
unsightly technical installations, is the
easy and permanent accessibility to the
said installations: electric cabling, heating
and air conditioning pipes, information
installations.
ORIGIN
OF THE PROBLEMS
Suspended
ceilings get dirty, are prone to water damage,
become impregnated with nicotine and are
left with finger marks after work has been
carried out.
EXISTING
SOLUTIONS
1° - Replace old tiles.
Disadvantages
:
a) Removal and disposal of old tiles.
b) Re-assembly of accessories housed in
the tiles (sprinklers, spotlights, etc…)
c) Risk of breaking tiles when putting them
in place.
d) Metal frame remains dirty.
e) Difficult to find the same type of tiles.
f) Extended shut down of premises
2° Total replacement :
tiles + framework
Disadvantages
:
a) Cost
b) Obligatory involvement of technicians
(electricity, information, heating, air
conditioning)
c) Site shut down
3° “Traditional” painting of the
suspended ceiling.
Disadvantages
:
a) Loss of fire certificate
b) Obvious painted aspect
|
c) Paint sticks the tiles to the structure
d) Layers of paint create a film which causes
the paint flake off as soon as a tile is
lifted
e) Acoustic tiles become clogged, causing
echoing of sound
f) Ceiling not as bright as it was originally.
g) Risk of tile distortion
h) Old stains appear through the paint.
i) Strong odour.
4° - Cleaning.Cleaning
is generally carried out by de-colouring
the stain. The most commonly used procedure
is micro-spraying with oxygenated products.
Disadvantages :
a) Does not remove all stains.
b) Original colour is refreshed but blurred
and lacks uniformity.
c) Not all tiles may be cleaned.
RENOVATION
BY BASIC SYSTEM®
Re-colouring by spraying a colour emulsion
is far quicker and less costly than replacing
the tiles or replacing the whole ceiling.
TECHNICAL
ARGUMENTS OF BASIC SYSTEM®
1°
- Excellent surface coverage, of both frame
and tiles (fibre or metal).
2° - No film-building effect:
a) No clogging of acoustic threads, no echoing
of sounds,
b) Tiles do not stick to the frame,
c) The emulsion does not flake off when
work is carried out on the suspended ceiling.
3°
-Excellent reflector of light.
4° - Acrylic binder in aqueous phase, therefore
odourless and quick drying:
a) therefore odourless
b) quick drying.
|
5°
- Uniform colour over whole renovated surface
6° - Fire resistance certification.
7° - Biodegradable product.
8° - Long-lasting results.
9° - Operation may be repeated several times
over the years (little excess weight brought
about by the projected product).
10° - Quick application, therefore premises
not out of use for long. Over the course
of one night, three operators can treat
500sqm.
11° - Quick application, no harmful effects.
No risk of dirt or spattering thanks to
protective sheeting.
12° - No risk of tile distortion.
METHODOLOGY
1°
- Masking of all surfaces which do not need
re-colouring: lights, sprinklers, vents,
walls, floor.
2° - Removal of dust from parts to be re-coloured.
3° - In the case of a very greasy ceiling
or one which is impregnated with nicotine,
cleaning with a specific grease removal
product.
4° - Removal of humidity stains (water damage
on acoustic tiles).
5° - Re-colouring by spraying DALFOND®,
pigmented emulsion. Re-colouring is generally
done in white. But is also available in
any color.
6° - Removal of masking.
7° - Inspection.
8° - Cleaning.
